Climate-friendly district cooling for Munich

Bilfinger Industrial Services GmbH is carrying out the planning and installation of the complex plant equipment for the district cooling project in Munich-Sendling, which includes numerous pumps, valves and heat exchangers. During the work, around 50 Bilfinger employees will be on site to assemble and weld a total of 8 km of piping. The team will also support the long-standing client Stadtwerke München during commissioning. In the final stage, 36 megawatts of cooling energy will be generated at the Energy Site South - this is roughly equivalent to the cooling requirements of 100 office buildings. The expansion of the Munich district cooling network makes the new district cooling centre the largest in Europe.

The new district cooling centre in Munich is intended to air-condition more commercial customers such as hotels, office buildings and retail properties in the future - and to do so sustainably.
